TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

One of the oldest forms of natural healing known to man, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) -  which includes
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine - has existed as a thoroughly effective system of health care in China for over 3000 years.  In recent times Chinese medicine has established itself as a significant form of natural health care in the western world and is increasingly recognized by medical practitioners and the public at large. The use of acupuncture and Traditional Herbal Medicine is entirely safe and free from harmful side-effects.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of extremely fine pre-sterilised needles into predetermined points on the body's surface to restore health. It can be used alone or combined with other forms of TCM including: Moxabustion, Chinese herbal medicine, Acupresssure massage,  as well as dietary and lifestyle advice.
For patient safety all acupuncture needles used are CE marked, single use, sterile and disposable.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medical ingredients such as roots, leaves and flowers are combined according to classical Chinese Prescriptions  to treat the client's condition. No Western medicines are used. No animal products, mineral products nor endangered species are used. Chinese Herbal medicines used are all bought from a specific list of Approved Herbal Suppliers. As a herbal practitioner Denise Delaney complies with any advice or prohibitions from the Irish Medicines Board (IMB) and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The Treatment
Depending on the type of problem, it may take up to 1½ hours on the first visit.  Subsequent visits last approximately 1 hour.  All aspects of the person are taken into consideration when the assessment is being made. Past and current medical history, family, lifestyle, diet and emotional factors are all part of the evaluation. The diagnosis includes examination of the tongue and pulse as part of the process of determining the pattern of illness.  Persons currently taking medication should bring these along for the first visit.
The entire treatment is safeguarded by total confidentiality. Since each person is unique the number of treatments required will vary. The treatment programme will be discussed with you on your first visit.

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine used for?
Like all forms of TCM, Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine,  strive to boost, reinforce, strengthen and invigorate the Qi.  Acupuncture employs finest needles, applied to the skin, to drive out unhealthy Qi and restore healthy circulation of optimal Qi. Herbs do likewise but "from the inside". The herbs are ingested and work away, silently and unseen, to do their restorative, regenerative or vitalising work.
